Privacy Policy
Draft (October 2026), to be reviewed by a lawyer before Gigbee launches.
Gigbee helps people find local work and hire people nearby. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, or the address Sign in with Apple gives us (it can be a private relay address), and the name you choose.
- Your profiles: what you add to your worker or business profile: photo or logo, headline, skills, rate, availability, experience, certifications, languages.
- Your location, roughly: to show work or people near you, we store your location rounded to about half a mile. Other people never see your exact location from this.
- Your exact location, only when you choose: if you're hired and tap "On my way", your position is shared with that one employer until you arrive, stop, or two hours pass, and then it's deleted. When you check in or out of a job, we record how far you were from the job's address.
- Jobs and their addresses: employers' job posts. A job's exact address is shown only to the employer and the people hired for it; everyone else sees an area of about half a mile.
- What you do on Gigbee: applications, invitations, messages, hours logged, reviews, and reports you make.
- Payments: amounts paid and earned, and the identifiers Stripe gives us. Card and bank details, and identity checks for payouts, are handled by Stripe; Gigbee never sees your card or bank numbers.
- Your device's notification address, if you allow notifications.
Why
To run Gigbee: show nearby work and people, let you apply, hire, message and get paid, keep hours trustworthy, keep the community safe (reviews, reports, suspensions), and meet our legal obligations (such as tax records).
Who else handles it
- Supabase hosts our database and servers (in the United States).
- Stripe processes payments, pays workers, verifies identity for payouts, and issues tax forms. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to what you give Stripe directly.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, notifications, and address search (Apple Maps).
Other people on Gigbee see what's meant to be seen: your public profile, reviews, and, once you're matched or hired, your messages and what each job needs.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account, except: live location is deleted when sharing ends (two hours at most); and records of payments are kept for seven years for tax and accounting, with your name removed once your account is deleted.
Your choices
- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete account. This removes your profiles, jobs, applications, messages and photos. You can't delete while a job or payment is still in progress, so nobody loses pay.
- Location and notifications can be turned off in your iPhone's Settings. Without location, Gigbee uses a default area.
- Turn off "Employers near me can find me" in your worker profile to stay out of searches.
- To ask what we hold about you, or to correct it, write to us (below).
Age
Gigbee is for people 18 and over.
