Terms of Service
Draft (October 2026). These must be reviewed by an employment lawyer before Gigbee launches: worker classification, fees, liability and dispute resolution all depend on where Gigbee operates.
What Gigbee is
Gigbee is a marketplace that helps people find local work and helps people and businesses find workers. Gigbee isn't the employer of anyone who finds work through it. Workers using Gigbee are independent contractors who choose which work to accept, set their availability, and decide how to do the work. Employers are responsible for the work they offer and for their workplace.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older, able to make a binding agreement, and legally allowed to do (or offer) the work involved. One account per person. Keep your sign-in secure.
Pay and fees
- Workers pay no fees. The pay shown on a job is what the worker receives.
- Employers pay a service fee (currently 20%) on top of the worker's pay, charged when they approve hours or a fixed-price job. The fee is shown before posting and before every charge.
- Hiring someone directly for ongoing work, after meeting them on Gigbee, carries a one-time placement fee (currently 15% of an estimated first month's pay, at least $150), shown before paying.
- Pay must be at least the minimum Gigbee sets (the US federal minimum wage to start), and employers must also meet the minimum wage that applies where the work happens.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Workers who get paid accept Stripe's Connected Account Agreement. Approved pay is sent to the worker's bank through Stripe.
Keep payment on Gigbee
Don't arrange payment for work found on Gigbee outside the app (cash, payment apps, or otherwise), except through the "hire directly" placement. Payment on Gigbee is what guarantees workers are paid and lets us help with disputes.
Hours, disputes and cancellations
Workers send their hours (or ask for payment on a fixed-price job); employers approve or dispute them. Check-in records help both sides. Either side may cancel a job in progress, giving a reason. Workers can still send their final hours for seven days after a job ends. If you can't agree, contact us and we'll help; our decision on how Gigbee handles a payment is final within the app, without limiting your other legal rights.
What's not allowed
- Illegal, dangerous or sexual work; work that requires a license you don't hold.
- Discrimination in hiring or applying, harassment, threats, or hateful content.
- Fake profiles, fake reviews, misleading jobs or pay, or asking for deposits or fees from workers.
- Using Gigbee to collect people's information or to send spam.
We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. You can report a person or a job from the app.
Reviews
Reviews must be honest and about the job. They're public on profiles.
Our responsibility
Gigbee provides the marketplace "as is". We don't guarantee that any job or worker will be suitable, and we aren't responsible for the work itself, injuries, or damage arising from it, to the extent the law allows. Our total liability to you is limited to the fees Gigbee received from you in the twelve months before the claim, to the extent the law allows.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms; we'll tell you in the app before important changes take effect. You can stop using Gigbee and delete your account at any time.
Law and disputes
[To be set with a lawyer: governing law, venue, and whether disputes go to arbitration.]
